The system accurately measures the number of engine detonations in the combustion chamber (pre-ignition, localized ignition or post-ignition detonation), which signals among other things incorrect jetting, needle position or ignition curve. Tuning adjustments made from the availability of this knowledge will result in improved performance and improved engine life. The EPIC N.O.C.C. system - patents pending - is a one-piece self-contained unit that actually serves dual roles as a signal meter or "counter" as well as a signal conditioner. The device utilizes a small and rugged piezoelectric sensor which is ideally mounted on top of the cylinder head or directly to the cylinder itself. This sensor is linked to the primary housing unit via a 5ft. long shielded cable.
The unit features a weatherproof billet aluminum housing, a self-contained internal power supply with a high-contrast transflective LCD display and large ergonomic reset button. The ‘smart’ circuitry of the EPIC N.O.C.C will maintain and preserve the last count value without draining the batteries, while the universal sensor stand-off kit allows for quick and assured mounting to all applications of kart and motorcycle engines. With dimensions of 65x85x37mm and a gross weight of 425 grams, the device can be easily mounted on the steering wheel.
